                         Illness Policy

The Child Development Ministry is equipped to provide care for children who are free from symptoms of communicable diseases. It is important for us to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases; therefore, for the protection of other children, we ask that you notify CDM if your child is ill with a communicable disease. Please help us maintain this policy.

At the first sign of an illness, the child will be isolated and a parent or authorized person will be called to come for the child. We can only care for well children.

Symptoms for immediate response from parents are:

Fever of 101
Eye problems
Nausea and/or vomiting
Diarrhea
Discolored nasal discharge
Flushed skin, rash, or skin eruptions
Pain (earache, headache, sore throat, or other acute pain)
Head lice

If a child has had a communicable disease, he/she may return only after the following conditions are met:

Chicken pox—when sores have scabbed over
Diarrhea—free of symptoms for 24 hours
Fever—free of fever for 24 hours
German measles—after rash and swelling are gone
Hand-foot-and-mouth disease—when fever is gone
Head lice—when all lice and nits are gone, with a physician’s statement
Impetigo—when all sores are gone
Measles—one week after rash began
Mumps—when all swelling is gone
Pink eye—24 hours after beginning treatment
Pinworms—24 hours after beginning treatment
Ringworm—24 hours after beginning antibiotic
Roseola—after rash and fever are gone
Scabies—after one treatment with prescription cream
Scarlet fever—24 hours after beginning antibiotic
Strep infection—24 hours after beginning antibiotic
Vomiting—free of vomiting for 24 hours

In some cases and at the discretion of the Director, a physician’s statement will be necessary for readmittance.
